Edgy romantic headbands mix feminine elements like braiding, feathers, or ribbon with tougher elements like metallics, spikes, or studs.
Minimalism:
Guido Palau for Calvin Klein
To add interest to a minimalist outfit, add a skinny to medium black headband. Instead of choosing an embellished accessory, pick designs made of fall fabrics like velvet or satin.
Bohemian:
Alexandre Herchcovitch
Choose a headband with bright colors, feathers, or a floral design.
Designer Stacey Lapidus has added a new Couture Collection! The pieces are similar to the main line but tend to be a little bit pricier ($150-$200.) The headbands are made of imported silk and are adorned with such intricacies as pearls, crystals, sequins, flowers, and metallic beads.
I am absolutely in love with Bambako’s beautiful headbands! Each piece is intricately designed with feminine details of feathers, ribbon, and bows (all of my favorite things!) The intricacies combined with perfect color combinations make each headband a necessity, not accessory, to any outfit.
There will be a Bambako trunk show at Henri Bendel August 3rd-6th, and the fall collection will be available soon!
I absolutely LOVE every piece of Erin Fetherston's Fall 2009 RTW Collection. The collection includes a number of structured pieces like fitted jackets and bell-shaped skirts. Hair accessories include not only traditional black bow headbands but also over-sized, structured hats and animal masks.
Cut small sprigs from a branch of silk cerry blossoms. Try to keep at least three tiny buds attached to each item. Begin by gluing sprigs to the top of the headband.

Wrap a ribbon around the headband, leaving enough excess on each end to tie behind your head. Weave ribbon through the blossoms, wrapping tightly. Glue in place as you go.

Diane Von Furstenburg debuted her spring 2009 collection complete with floral, bohemian headbands. According the InStyle, Von Furstenburg calls her latest collection "an homage to [legendary fashion editor] Diana Vreeland who taught us we could be goddesses and rock stars."
Jennifer Behr’s fall 2009 collection offers a range of pieces within a silver and black palette. Behr sharply contrasts lady-like crystal and feather headbands with thick armor-like pieces adorned with spikes. The silver and black color scheme makes it easy to match headbands with almost any fall outfit, and the range of widths- thin to thick- makes it easy to accessorize both casual and dressy outfits.
